Title: Hybrid Seminar Talk on Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data

We are delighted to share that we have successfully concluded the Hybrid Seminar Talk on the fascinating topic of Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. The event took place on 4th July 2023, from 2pm to 4pm, at the esteemed National Institute of Health (NIH) in Setia Alam, Selangor.

Our distinguished speakers, including Dr Mohammad Firdaus bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Dean of Research Faculty of Law at Universiti Malaya, delivered captivating presentations on the ethical dimensions of AI and Big Data. Additionally, Dr Nishakanthi Gopalan, Programme Coordinator of the Master of Health Research Ethics (MOHRE) program at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, provided a comprehensive introduction to the MOHRE program, which sparked great interest among attendees.

The seminar was skillfully moderated by Associate Prof Dr Julia Patrick Engkasan, Head of the Medical Humanities and Ethics Unit (MedHEU), Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, who guided the discussions and ensured a fruitful exchange of ideas.

We had the pleasure of collaborating with the course of Network of Ethical Review Committees in Malaysia (NERCIM), organized by the Ethics and Research Oversight Sector, Office of the NIH Manager.

This collaboration greatly enriched the event and facilitated engaging interactions among participants.

The seminar embraced a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person attendance at NIH and virtual participation via Cisco Webex Meeting. We were thrilled to welcome a diverse audience of over 100 participants, including professionals from various fields such as medicine, law, research, academia, as well as representatives from government and private sectors.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to NIH for their warm hospitality and for providing us with an exceptional venue that contributed to the overall success of the event.

We express our sincere gratitude to all individuals who played a significant role in making this seminar a resounding success and invite you to explore further details about the MOHRE program and its pioneering initiatives.
