The MOHRE Faculty Development Workshop 2023 was held on November 30, 2023, at Aloft, KL Sentral. This workshop involved program coordinators, course coordinators, and lecturers from the Health Research Ethics Master's program (MOHRE). The attendance included eight lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya (UM). Two experts in health research ethics, Professor Dr. Jeremy Sugarman and Associate Professor Joseph Ali from Johns Hopkins University (JHU), were the keynote speakers. Professor Dr. Jeremy Sugarman served as the Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), while Associate Professor Joseph Ali was the Co-Investigator (Co-I), serving as an international collaborator for the grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the US. The sessions conducted by them were interactive, facilitating the exchange of opinions, ideas, and perspectives between participants and speakers related to knowledge and skills in health research ethics, focusing on the concept of 'Critical Reading in Conceptual Research Ethics.'

The purpose of this workshop was to provide essential training to MOHRE faculty members to enhance their knowledge and skills in research ethics, with a focus on the 'Critical Reading in Conceptual Research Ethics' concept.

This workshop was part of the collaborative international research activities under the NIH grant (IF053-2018) conducted between UM and JHU. Led by experts in health research ethics, Professor Dr. Jeremy Sugarman and Associate Professor Joseph Ali from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in the US, the workshop took place during their visit to UM from November 27 to 30, 2023. It was tailored for MOHRE program lecturers and involved a lineup of lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine.
